Presente

This project focuses on providing a meaningful solution to individuals coping with the loss of a loved one. It aims to create a holistic experience where users can cherish memories and transform them into tangible keepsakes. The project's framework is rooted in the principles of design thinking, guiding the process from empathy to innovation.

Role: Ux Research, Ux Design, Design Thinking, Product Design.

Duration: 8 month

Tools: Figma

Tasks: Research, Concept, Wireframes, Prototype.

Context

The objective was to develop a digital platform that acts as an emotional support system for those navigating the difficult journey of grieving. The problem statement revolved around the idea that individuals in mourning need positive ways to remember their loved ones, ultimately aiding them in the healing process.

PROBLEM:

A person who is in a grief process needs to remember his loved one positively because the user will be able to better manage the loss of his loved one.

SOLUTION:

The solution involved the creation of a digital platform designed to serve as an emotional anchor for individuals coping with loss. By harnessing the power of creativity, technology, and tangible object creation, this platform provides invaluable support during the grieving process, offering a pathway to bear the loss of a loved one more easily.

QUESTION:

How to make the loss of a loved one more bearable?

Research

Early in the project, the research focus was on "makers" – people who derive joy from creating. To narrow our approach, we incorporated the topic of grief among those who had lost someone dear. In-depth interviews with individuals in mourning shed light on their unique experiences, the enduring memory of their loved ones, and their desires for how they themselves would be remembered. Shadowing sessions further enriched our understanding of the connection between makers and meaningful objects.

Ideation

Guided by insights gained during research, ideation sessions included brain-writing with the team and the creation of mood boards in collaboration with users. These efforts helped define a comprehensive user journey and multiple scenarios. A prototype of the service was crafted to gauge user reactions, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction with the service's elements.

Wireframes

As part of the project, I took on the responsibility of crafting paper wireframes and low-fidelity wireframes for the app screens. Consistency with the app's overall design was maintained, ensuring user-friendly interfaces. The wireframes and prototypes allowed for user testing, providing insights into pain points and opportunities for improvement.

Notes:

Creating the prototype was the most intense part of the project, in terms of being able to empathise with the user without getting emotionally attached or involved.

Prototyping gave me a real understanding on how the user will react, the paint points and how the user manages the service making this one of the highlights of the project for me.

Visual language

Creating a visually appealing yet straightforward interface was paramount. Extensive research into patterns, colors, typography, and design references culminated in a fresh and user-friendly app style that resonates with a broad audience.

Conclusions

The project achieved its goal with a seamlessly integrated and cohesive service, offering a user-friendly and emotionally sensitive experience. Users can now create tangible objects and art based on cherished memories of their departed loved ones. This project not only demonstrates the power of UX design in addressing delicate subjects but also highlights the importance of empathy and user-centricity in creating meaningful solutions.
